It would cost about US$12/month for me to run my server in AWS Sydney using Ubuntu, based on it being on for five hours per day.

That means I could re-build it every night automatically with OS updates, using Packer, push the DB into RDS so backups are handled, use AWS Backups to snapshot the server. Probably about $30/month all up.
