yeah, possible.

external client are able to connect.
just not the LAN clients.

I might looks at a vpn solution for my buddies to connect or SSH tunnel or someting. hamchie kinda deal

You could add an entry to the windows hosts file to trick windows into connecting to your local ip by connecting to the remote ip.
