rule of thumb: never update software until stuff stops working, because updating eventually leads stuff to stop working

To be honest with you, I was fine with Ubuntu 21, but like any interim release, it would only be officially supported for 9 months. Whereas the chance of getting a fresh lts release with 5 yrs of updates any supports ahead felt like too good an opportunity
