Would make it much easier for projects to cooperate in the same repository, would really like for every project not to have their own forks

I can't talk for the whole project but we tried to contribute for a long time. Our PRs (which we needed urgently for ChromieCraft and other projects) were sitting around for months or were rejected.
Using 2 branches at the same time was hassle for us so in the end we decided to just use our own repository and don't try anymore.
As much as we want to contribute, I don't see us spending time to port all our changes over at this point, just for the possibility that in half a year our PRs stay unmerged again.
It's just too much work for us for the possibility of our changes to be stay unmerged again.
If somebody wants to do it we won't hold them back but I don't think the main staff will work on this any time soon.

That's also addressed and explained in more detail in the conversation I had with Honey you'd be able to merge as you please, that's the whole reason of the reorg
