Saying it's the same is like saying modules is like editing AC. Addons work the same say, using API exposed by the client.

Yes, and still in my mind making a module IS customizing AC. Just not editing directly its internal code, but editing it peripherally, you still modify the final bundle.

Okay, look at it like this then: Addons are officially supported, but editing the client is against the law as far as Blizzard is concerned. That's the distinction.

Well, my editing the client is clearly meant as modifying the data files of the client. That's the real difference, we understand it in different ways which is fine and that's where the problem was for me.
