Have you tried looking at the spell.dbc through StoneHarry's spell editor? I had a weird bug where the beginning undead quest (the one in MOP/CATA can't remember) would make you stuck laying on the ground do to an aura, couldn't find it until I used the editor, then used the command to remove aura's, does that make sense?

that is a tool I haven't heard of, let me look into that - might give me what I need. thanks for the lead.

No problem! It's for 3.3.5 just so you know. Also, if you ever want to make ( just an example of what the tool can do) flying mounts for all maps, just look up the spell in the mentioned editor and uncheck a box that says outland only, no need to make an item or anything else, obviously you'll have to replace the edited spell DBC like anything else.
