If you trust a custom launcher you *should* trust the server.
But I get the idea for non-launcher servers since it’s harder to tell if they’re malicious.

I wouldn’t say that, but rather that it doesn’t fit the security model of the project as you view it as too high risk.

Plenty of OSS stuff that’s high risk for abuse, those projects just don’t care / don’t view it as their problem
