I think the spell summons are temporary, as in they despawn when the instance shuts down. At least that's how I assume it works.

i dont rly know how instancing works internally and what would happen with regular npc or summons

that matches my understanding. the spells create summoned versions that aren't saved in the DB. if you restart the server, they'll be gone when you start back up.

adding an NPC with the temp keyword does the same. adding an NPC without the temp keyword creates a new DB entry.

If you add a new non-temp NPC inside an instance, things get...silly. I've seen multiple copies of the same NPC I added when I returned to an instance later. I'm not sure the "right" way to add an NPC to an instance in a way that won't get broken. probably needs to be added to the base (non-instanced) version of the map but I don't really know.

i was adding npcs to instance and i didnt see any copies but i was not debugging it so idk if there would technically be copies "in code"

i don't know, i didn't look into it very much since it was a vendor that i inteded to be temporary and then i forgot about it until 15 of them hit me later
