the LFG level range is the width of all four wings. how can i tell which wing a given creature spawn belongs to just from their creature DB entry?

I'm talking about your general approach. My suggestion has the same issue in SM as yours. It just doesn't compute the same value once per instance but a single time at start-up.

i see what you mean. let me see if i can get the same data out of the DB entries that i'm getting out of the creature objects.

i mean, the "easiest" way would be to make a table of map IDs to target levels and call it a day. or stick it in the config file.

that doesn't account for new instances added to the game by custom servers though

will definitely keep looking into pulling info from the DB. for now I have it working with that distance check. i just keep two different lists of creatures - one for all creatures (all the world adds get put here) and one for "active" creatures that are within 1000 units of a player. it's definitely a bit hackish, but it solves the issue for SM at a minimum!
