only time i ever did a population test... was actually a few days ago to identify some insane lag that got introduced with a commit that i had to essentially revert.

it has nothing to do with pvp nor it being bg but wg walls are some category of gobs which are like doors and those disappear much sooner everywhere

either way. the notifiy period confs seems to be something that could be easily cherrypicked and applied if anyone new or current wants to attempt it
