Have at least two main working arms: one that serves as a backup in a stable version, and another that you work with and make updates, so you don't run the risk of something disappearing or breaking. Redundancy is the key word.

I'm trying to get a non-vendor npc to sell an item. I've added their guid to npc_vendor list and added the item to their selling inventory in Heidisql, but I'm not getting the vendor dialogue from the vendor in game after restarting the server.
I've also tried adding it while in game through gm, but it says the item is already in the vendor's list

I mean, dev vs. prod, for sure. but like, if I run an update and it has several SQL scripts per day in the updates, then our alternative is rolling back to an older version of the core
