Installing MySQL on Debian isn't hard at all if you know how to and it really wouldn't be hard to learn if you really want to

It's recommended to use the same thing on Ubuntu actually. At least 24.04. I don't know what 25.X ships with but 24.04 ships with MySQL 8.0 which does work with Azerothcore but 8.4 is nice since 8.0 will reach EOL before 8.4 (obviously).
