When a mage water elemental (or in my case also my hunter pet on my mage that I modded in) kills mobs in aggresive mode, without the character intervening, the player cant loot the corpses, is that a known azerothcore bug, blizzlike or is it a bug that I am encountering due to my modding?

It's blizzlike. You have to do a certain amount of damage to a target to be eligible for loot.

Blizzard designed pets in the a way you've to some damage if not majority of the damage so you wouldn't "afk" and let your pet farm

I'm not even sure a target is tapped if only the pet does damage to it
