Setting MapUpdate.Threads in worldserver.conf to 4-6 is the one that helps a lot, but beyond that it's single core performance if I'm not mistaken and missing another option somewhere.

It can't use an unlimited amount of threads though. A map can only run in one thread at a time so if all the bots are in eastern kingdoms, kalimdor, outland and northrend it can only use 4 threads in total. Unless I'm mistaken and it has changed but I don't think so.
