That's correct, it's like dialling your own phone number on your phone, its engaged cause well... your using it.

If your playing by yourself this shouldn't be an issue, just make sure the config files match the same ip. If you are publicly playing with others, maybe look into ddns? not sure if that will work though as some
apps are weird with FQDN's not using numeric values.
