[Archive] [WIP][Showoff] Custom real looking human character
Quote: [Skip this for the main subject]
Me and my friend were about to try a new mmorpg after getting bored of Ragnarok Online, and I suggested WoW, but he just didn't liked the characters, so I decided to make those for us.
In my experience, I have made once a character of my own custom for Oblivion ES4, and I thought why not. And this is what my character looks like so far:
[The main subject]
The model was made using wow model viewer with my own selected set of default equipment, exported to milkshape, then to 3ds to edit the model, and its on milkshape again.
Now I'm trying to play with the skeleton, 150+ joints it's quite a mess and milkshape friendly user interface doesn't help at all. I can't import/export the whole skeleton because of some errors.
So, in the meantime I'll try to get the weight painting stuff done, so I can test it out. I guess I can rep reward someone willing to support.

Quote:Also I think the problem would be the particles (or whatever those small square thingys were again, Somewhy getting #ireframe in mah head when thinking that name).
Well that model has lots of 'em right?.. think that you would load your character into wow and Swoosh.. suddenly 100x other players have same model = serious fps decrease ;D
+ is the person having a orgasm or something in teh picture? o.0

Quote: If I could get some item that rarely anyone equips, and swap models, could it work?
About the expression, well thats the init pose, maybe the editing made it look like that
I don't know how particles have anything to do with the model.

Quote: ...Its not hard to make a model in 3d -_- getting it into wow is harder. and nerly impossible with more vertices then the orginal model(It is possible, but with no animation).
The export error could be that you forgot to map the bones to the new vertices?
EDIT: sorry, forgot about tigus new tool, guess you have to make all new animations for every move then. GL with that.

And add all the Geosets by hand (~60-80, one taking you ~2-5 minutes) in order for all the clothes to be displayed right.
You also have to add the attachment points for shoulder plates and helmet, but that's a rather small work compared to the geosets and animations.
What I don't get is the thing with particles? Character models never had particles? Some Creature models do, yes, but not character.
Something that'd be muuuuch easier would be to create your fully equipped custom model, add all the animations to it, get it into WoW and create a new DisplayID in the DBC.
Then, switch your DisplayID to that one and you'll be your cool character. The downside: Items don't change your appearance.

Quote: The mesh is an edited male Blood Elf, it should be the same amount of verts but not for the hair.
About the exporting, i haven't done it yet (ms3d to m2), I just said that I can't import the bones from the ones I get in Milkshape so I can edit them on 3ds max.
As for animating, I only edited the model then imported it to the ms3d that had all the animations or at least I suppose it should have, so I think it only needs the joint mapping.
(Sorry I don't know how to quote messages)

Well that would work, but if you would swap the equip it would be equip only.. character with that equip would stay the same.
