[Archive] [Skin-Change] 'More Realistic' Lich King Face and Arthas Deathknight Face
Quote: Hi everybody!
When i saw first the ingame Lich King Model, i thought: Why he has a darkened face? He's only wearing a helmet, and in the cinematics you can see his face! And this shadow is unrealistic.
And why has Arthas as a deathknight green instead of blue eyes? Every DK has blue eyes, so that this doesn't make sense!
So I've changed the old Lich King and DK-Arthas with the new LK-Skin from 3.3 to correct both skins. Click to get this .MPQ
And i know that you like Mudk... erm Screenshots, so i've made one^^
Lich King Ingame-Model
Lich King Cinematic (Well, this is the TFT-Ending, but in the WotLK-Intro you can see his face at the end of the vid)
Info: I've only changed the Pre-3.3 Lich King Face and the Arthas as DK Face. The Unarmed Lich King Model needs a little bit deeper change (only need to remove the geoset 5), i may update this.
I hope you like that change!

Good model.
Quote: This is a nice change for players who are annoyed by this like you so good job. To answer your question: Blizzard did it for the purpose of art direction. Sometimes stylistic changes are done for the sake of style, even if they break realism.
In the case of the lich king, it was probably to preserve his color scheme (which doesn't include his face color), or to give the idea of him being an untouchable entity on a subconscious level - light can't even touch his body, so why could you? - Or maybe both. You must remember WoW's graphics are not about realism, but about the art style.
With that said, good job cleaning it up and offering your view of how he should look like!
